Transport and Travel Information

How do I get to the venue from Sydney International Airport to Naamaroo?

Public Transport is the cheapest way. You will need to take two trains. See instructions below:

  • Purchase Opal Card – Put AUD$50 for upcoming costs. You can also purchase a single ticket. Follow the signs to train and purchase tickets at the gate to the train station.

  • Go to Sydney Airport Domestic or Sydney Airport International Train Station.

  • At either of these stations go to Platform 1.

  • Catch the train to Central Station and change to Platform 16 (The North Shore Line) for your train to Lindfield.

  • Check that the service goes to Gordon (not Epping) as some trains require you to change at Chatswood in order to get to Lindfield.

  • Travel time is approximately 47 minutes.

We will be operating a shuttle service from Lindfield Station to Naamaroo throughout the first day for arrivals – more details about pick up place will be emailed to you closer to the conference date.

You can also get an Uber/ Taxi from the airport which will cost you AUD$71 – $91 for four people max (unless larger vehicle chosen).

You can also hire a car at the airport. There are a variety of options including Hertz, Europar, Avis and Budget. Please note you will need to have a licence valid to drive in Australia.

Do I need a visa for entering Australia?

Yes, visit the Department of Home Affairs website to find the appropriate visa. You will need to state the country of the passport you will be travelling on.

Travel Insurance

Do I need travel insurance?

Travel insurance is optional, however we highly recommend it. Insurance can be organised via 1Cover, which is a travel insurance company, and is well recommended.

Travelling as an unaccompanied minor (student under 18 without parents or guardians)

Here is a link to the Australian Government Home Affairs website form visa application for children under 18.

It is essential that you contact your airline and check their requirements if you are travelling as an unaccompanied minor. Some airlines require particular documentation for children travelling without parents or guardians and you may not be allowed to board your plane without it.

Please make sure that you have adequate travel insurance to cover any problems you may face.
